Detroit Jazz Festival
lineup announced

The Detroit Jazz Festival has released its 2023 lineup. It includes a number of former Detroiters, like artist-in-residence Karriem Riggins, violinist Regina Carter, altoist Kenny Garrett and drummer Louis Hayes. There will be several pianists on the festival: Johnny O’Neal and Sullivan Fortner will present a Tribute of Detroit Piano Masters; and Michael Weiss pays tribute to Barry Harris with bassist Peter Washington and drummer Lewis Nash. The versatile pianist/composer Jason Moran pays tribute to James Reese Europe and the Harlem Hell Fighters.

Other notable acts are guitarist John Scofield and his trio, drummer Allison Miller and Boom Tic Boom, vibist Stefon Harris and Blackout, and a number of vocalists Samara Joy, Lizz Wright, and Veronica Swift.
