I N - T H I S - I S S U E : | Atmospheric Disturbance in SEMJA / KCH SeriesP aul Finkbeiner's Atmospheric Disturbance band will play the Kerrytown Concert House at 8:00 p.m. on February 19 in the continuation of the SEMJA / KCH Club Series. The group includes a dynamic rhythm section with upcoming pianist Glenn Tucker, the driving bassist Kurt Krahnke and the ever tasteful drummer Sean Dobbins. Finkbeiner (left) is an exciting and supremely skilled trumpeter who has made a name for himself as a key soloist in several groups: Paul Keller's Orchestra, Paul Keller Ensemble, and Phil Ogilvie's Rhythm Kings. These groups cover a range of styles and Finkbeiner is an expert in all of them: from growling on Ellington arrangements to swinging freely on Freddy Hubbard tunes. At times he also tries his hand at vocals, such as on Bunny Berigan's classic "I Can't Get Started." For many years Finkbeiner led the jam sessions at the now defunct Bird of Paradise in Ann Arbor. His musical profile is rounded out with composing, arranging, and teaching activities. This concert is presented in a club format at the Kerrytown Concert House, which means that drinks will be served and tables will be available next to the stage. To reserve a seat, please call the Concert House at 734-769-2999 or go to www.kerrytownconcerthouse.org. KCH is located at 415 North Fourth Avenue, in Ann Arbor, next to the historic Kerrytown Market area. If you have any questions about the event, feel free to call SEMJA at 734-668-7470.
