Drummers Lead Edgefest 2017

The theme of this year’s Edgefest, October 18 – 21 at Kerrytown Concert House in Ann Arbor, is new music created by drummers/percussionists. Several of the drummers are also composers and leaders of edgy/avant garde ensembles from New York City and elsewhere.

Some of the bigger names are multi-instrumentalist Joe McPhee, trombonist Steve Swell, tubaist Joseph Daley, clarinetist Ben Goldberg, saxophonist Larry Ochs, pianist Dave Burrell, and a long line of drummers/percussionists: Andrew Drury, Pheeroan akLaff, Hamid Drake, Allison Miller, Tom Rainey, Tomas Fujiwara, Adam Rudolph, Gerald Cleaver, and Gayelynn McKinney. The festival kicks off with a free performance at Encore Records on Tuesday, October 17.

Please go to the Kerrytown Concert House website for more details, including ticket information.
