Scenes from the 2006 Detroit Jazz Fest

The Detroit Jazz Fest did very well in terms of attendance this year even though the weather did not cooperate one of the four nights.

Here are some of the highlights captured over Labor Day weekend by UPDATE photographers.

Drummer Mickey Roker and Vibist Joe Locke were part of the tribute to Milt Jackson.

Trumpeter/Educator and former SEMJA Board member Louis Smith was honored on Labor Day for his contributions to jazz education. He is pictured here with his wife, Lulu.
