Kasan Belgrave
Residency at Cliff Bells
In a noteworthy development, Cliff Bells has decided to feature saxophonist Kasan Belgrave for much of the winter on Wednesdays. It is framed as a residency, which reminds us of what academic institutions sometimes offer. But then again, jazz clubs have a major role to play in the world of jazz.
Belgrave is, of course, from a well-known and much respected Detroit lineage, starting with his father trumpeter Marcus, who was a major figure in Detroit jazz for decades until his passing in 2015.
