Obituary

Word has reached us that Shirley Davis “Rusty” Schumacher passed away on September 30 in Ann Arbor. She was married to Hazen Schumacher from 1954 until his passing in 2015. Rusty was a dedicated teacher at Clague Middle School in Ann Arbor and was an ardent supporter of jazz and SEMJA since its founding. One of her singular achievements was a student exchange program with Hikone, Japan, one of Ann Arbor’s sister cities.
