Edgefest Goes OUT WEST
The theme of this year’s Edgefest is the West Coast and what its musicians have contributed to the Avant Garde/Creative Improvised Music scene. This year’s festival starts on Wednesday, October 16, and ends Saturday night, October 19. Festival headquarters will be at Kerrytown Concert House, 415 North Fourth Ave., Ann Arbor, but other venues will also take part — like the Blue LLama Jazz club, which will house the festival on Thursday.
As always, Edgefest attracts the best avant artists and audiences in the country. Some of the headliners are the Lucian Ban/Alex Harding Duo (Wednesday), pianist Myra Melford and her trio with windplayer Vinny Golia (Thursday), pianist and keyboardist Wayne Horvitz, the legendary trumpeter Bobby Bradford with the Vinny Golia Quartet (Friday), a tribute to pianist Tad Weed with bassist Ken Filiano, the ROVA Saxophone Quartet and a finale with Vinny Golia’s large ensemble (Saturday).
There are a number of different kinds of tickets for sale for the festival, from single event tickets to Edgepasses and Day Passes. Please go to the Concert House website for a listing of your options.
