Ford Detroit Jazz Festival Superseded
Pending
final approval of the Music Hall Board, the Ford Detroit International
Jazz Festival would have its last run in its present format in
2004. It would be replaced by a music festival featuring Detroit Motown,
Techno, R&B, gospel, rock, as well as jazz, according to Mark
Stryker in the Detroit Free Press.
As is well known Music Hall has faced a lot of
red ink and last year the Festival lost $100,000. The new festival
would be located all over the downtown area at both indoor and outdoor
venues. A four day festival in 2005 would be made possible by a grant
from the Knight Foundation and potential corporate support.
