Susan Chastain Next In Club Series

Club SeriesSinger and former club owner Susan Chastain visits Ann Arbor from her new digs in Florida on April 9 when she appears in the SEMJA / KCH Club Series at Kerrytown Concert House. The ever energetic singer will be joined by two people she hired (and sang with) frequently at her Firefly Club: bassist Paul Keller and pianist Phil DeGreg from Cincinnati. Chastain started her jazz singing career with the Paul Keller big band at the fabled Bird of Paradise. DeGreg is a versatile and swinging pianist who for sixteen years was the housepianist at the Blue Wisp Jazz Club in Cinci. He has played with most big names in modern jazz.

SEMJA will provide a club atmosphere by serving beer, wine, and other refreshments for the event. Please call the Concert House at 734-769-2999 to make a reservation for shows at 7:00 or 9:00 p.m.

The Club Series continues next month with an appearance of drummer Sean Dobbins’ Modern Jazz Messengers on May 21. The Messengers are Diego Rivera on soprano/tenor saxophones, Vincent Chandler on trombone, Roger Jones on piano, and Rodney Whitaker on bass.
